Execution & Control

The move, run on the plan: cargo readiness, forwarder procurement, KPIs and deviations — and senior intervention when a vessel, a port or a contractor fails.

01 — What is actually being decided

The plan is the baseline. Execution is measured against it.

Management receives short, decision-grade reporting rather than operational data. These are the questions it answers every week.

  • 01Is every piece technically and documentarily ready to ship: packing, marking, weights, lifting points, drawings?
  • 02Which forwarder, carrier and vendor positions are on schedule — and which are only reported to be?
  • 03Where are cost, schedule and claims exposure drifting from the baseline?
  • 04Who in the chain owns each deviation, and what does the contract say they must do about it?
  • 05When a vessel is late, a port restricts or a route closes, what is the alternative and its cost?
  • 06What has this operation taught the next one?

02 — Process

From award to close-out.

The practice can act as independent adviser or sit inside the project team, reporting to the Project Director, logistics, procurement or contracts.

  1. 01

    Forwarder procurement

RFQ, scope, qualified bidders, normalised quotations and weighted evaluation — technical suitability before apparent price.

  2. 02

    Cargo readiness

Packing, marking, dimensions and weights, lifting points, transport drawings and documents checked with each vendor.

  3. 03

    Control & KPIs

Project-specific indicators for cost, schedule, vessel performance, cargo readiness, port productivity and claims.

  4. 04

    Deviation management

Deviations logged against the baseline with owner, mitigation and cost.

  5. 05

    Crisis intervention

Rapid diagnosis, alternatives and implementation when delays, damage or contractor failure hit the critical path.

  6. 06

    Close-out

Lessons learned, benchmarking and process improvements carried into the next operation.

03 — Deliverables

What the client receives.

  • Freight-forwarding RFQ and bid comparison

  • Cargo readiness and packing-list control
  • KPI framework and executive reporting

Contact

Put the move on the desk.

Send the cargo, its origin and destination, and the window you are working to. The first reply sets out whether the move is feasible, the likely corridor, the main exposures and an indicative cost band — before anything is committed.
